She was born June 23, 1918, in Hopkins County to the late Lloyd and Lela Hicks Sisk. Katie attended Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Dalton for more than 25 years with her daughter, Charlotte, until she was unable to attend. She retired from Dalton Middle School in 1987 as a cook in the lunchroom where she loved cooking for the students and teachers.Katie was a wonderful, loving mother and Grannies and loved being with her family and visiting all the nieces and nephews. The family always got together on holidays and her birthdays. She enjoyed shopping trips with her daughters and always found something she needed. She also loved her cats and named them all and the ones that came in the house loved to sit on her lap because it was good and warm and they all received special attention.She will be missed dearly by family and friends, but heaven is sweeter now with her and her beautiful smile.She also was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Ethridge, on May 9, 1970; sisters Ovel Hankins and Rosa Mae Britt; and brothers Owen (O.L.) Sisk, Henry Monroe Sisk and Alsee Sisk.Survivors include her daughters, Charlotte Y. Ethridge of Dalton and Hilda (Wayne) Lamb of Madisonville; grandchildren Michael (Kimberly) Lamb of Lexington and Lisa (Michael) Ritter of Dawson Springs; great-grandchildren Abby Zachary, Kelsey Lamb, Tanner Lamb and April Lamb; a brother, George (G.D.) Sisk of Terre Haute, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.The service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with the Rev. Tom McKim officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Dawson Springs. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Michael Lamb, the Rev. Wayne Lamb, Michael Ritter, Terry Sisk, Tony Ford and Donnie Britt.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Katie's memory to the Walnut Grove Cemetery Fund, c/o David Beshear, 305 Oak Heights, Dawson Springs, KY 42408.
